Liam began his football career with West Ham United, then moved to Aston Villa before transferring to rivals Birmingham City. He also played at West Bromwich Albion until 2014, when Liam was signed as a Designated Player for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer. The triumphant 2-1 win over Columbus Crew at MAPFRE Stadium in Ohio gave the Portland Timbers their first MLS Cup trophy, watched by 400 million viewers across the globe. Bob and his two other sons Clark and Gavin flew over to the USA to see their son and brother secure the championship, celebrating the occasion before and after.
